New Bits of Skincare :)

I love skincare. I just love it! It's relatively cheaper and easier to go through than make-up, and it makes SUCH a difference to your confidence when it works, and it's just.. urgh, I love it. So these days I've been using up quite a bit of my skincare up, so I went out and got a few new things that I wanted to show you guys - and am SO excited to try out :)

First up is the La Roche Posay Astringent Lotion Micro-Exfoliant. I am a huge fan of gently exfoliating everyday, as I found with Liz Earle's cleanser and Clinique's toner. I seem to get little cyst-like bumps on certain areas of my face, which I'm hoping will go away with daily exfoliation :) I'm also really excited to pop my La Roche Posay cherry, as everyone just seems to rave about everything they come out with!

Second is LUSH's Ocean Spray, which is a exfoliator for the face. This is also a part of my effort to get rid of my cysts, but also because my St. Ives exfoliator is a little over a year old.. yeah, probably not so great lol. When the lady at LUSH used it on my hand, it felt AMAZING, so I just had to get it, there was no second thoughts :) The smell is so refreshing and I'm really crossing my fingers this helps!

The last little tub is a sample of LUSH's Cupcake mask that I've been wanting to try for absolutely ages, but couldn't because I don't own a fridge (I don't live in destitution, I live in halls.. there is a difference despite many similarities..)! So she gave me just one pot that I can use tonight - how nice of her! I absolutely love the staff at the South Molton Street store in London - they've never let me down!

Have any of you tried these products? :)
What have been your recent skincare adventures?!

  2. Love Ocean Salt. Just remember to stir the pot well because there are larger salts on top and finer salts on the bottom. I did a review for it awhile back. http://fannied.blogspot.com/2011/02/review-lush-ocean-salt.html
    Hope you like it!

    1. Ahhh that's a shame! I do find that they include a lot more harsher ingredients than they make out to. I'm glad Simple works for you, I absolutely love their exfoliating shower gel!

    1. I used it last night and I adored it! :D My skin felt really normalized and balanced, but healthily moisturized and my skin wasn't producing oil at all :)

  7. Not to be the bearer of bad news but the Lush scrub is going to make skin very very irritated which may lead to more break outs:

Fine Sea Salt (Sodium Chloride), Fresh Grapefruit Infusion (Citrus grandis), Coarse Sea Salt (Sodium Chloride), Stearic Acid, Fresh Lime Extracted in Vodka (Citrus aurantifolia), Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Glycol Cetearate, Triethanolamine, Fresh Avocado Butter (Persea gratissima), Coconut Fat (Cocos nucifera), Lime Oil (Citrus aurantifolia), Seaweed Absolute (Fucus vesiculosus), Violet Leaf Absolute (Viola odorata), Glycerine, Lanolin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Limonene, Linalool, Perfume, Blue 1, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

with lime and fragrant additives, it has the potential to irritate skin big time and should be used with caution.

The LRP product also may not be a safe choice for you because it lists alcohol as the second ingredient which leads to pores becoming irritated and producing more oil:

Water, Alcohol Denat., Glycerin, Sodium Citrate, Propylene Glycol, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Disodium Edta, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Citric Acid, Salicylic Acid, Fragrance

the amount of salicylic acid is also too low to function as an exfoliant as well

    1. Actually, you were a bearer of good news, because your list confirmed what I read before I bought the products ;P In all seriousness though, I found that the last toner I used that was high in alcohol worked really well, and I think it's safe to say that everything works differently for different people. I appreciate your research and I do understand concerns of deception by corporations and whatnot (I study human rights! ;P), but I'm not quite sure what you'd propose otherwise? Because you're obviously not an advocate for natural ingredients, as you list them as irritants, but you also critique chemicals - what would you recommend instead that is affordable and effective? Honest question! :)
